
Barbara has done general woodworking since the 1970's. After a tour in the U.S. Navy and graduating from nursing school, she discovered the art of fretwork, using a scroll saw. This started with one simple little ornament and has grown to become the intricate ornaments and other creations of today. Her "first sale" was to the gift shop at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN.
Barbara was juried by the South Carolina Artisan's Commission in 2005 and her work accepted for exhibit and sale at the Artisan's Center Shop in Walterboro, SC Her work has been featured in gift shops at Drayton Hall and Middleton Place Plantations in Charleston, SC, as well as Cypress Gardens in Moncks Corner, SC.
Her newer achievements include participating in "Art in the Evening at City Market", as well as being juried and accepted to participate in the "Day Market" downtown Charleston, SC. Barbara has also been an exhibitor in the premiere wildlife event in the southeast; Southeastern Wildlife Expo (SEWE) in Charleston, SC. In 2015, she was invited to have her ornaments displayed and for sale at Mepkin Abbey Gift Shop in Moncks Corner, SC.
Past accomplishments include; teaching scrolling at the former Woodcraft in Charleston, a past long-time member of the USCG-Auxiliary, past president of the Island Crafters Guild, secretary of the Pluff Mud Scrollers Club and Rescue Chair for Vizsla Rescue for the Carolina's. She currently focuses on participating in events in Carolina, Georgia and Tennessee.
